I truly LOVE playing my piano!  I like to sit in an otherwise dark room with just the piano light illuminating the music and the keys.  The notes resonate through me and seem to envelope me.  I can feel the sound waves deep in my bones.  The piano responds exactly as I want, allowing me to be incredibly expressive and creative.  My mind seems to be connected directly to the piano hammers through my fingertips.   Hours later, I look at the clock and I can't believe what time it is...

The piano is an amazing instrument, and when it is perfectly in tune and the touch is maximized so that you can be extremely expressive, you will LOVE to play.

My own journey makes me uniquely qualified to help you accomplish this.
  • My degree is in Piano Performance from Colorado Christian University and I have worked as a professional musician in a jazz/funk band and produced music for clients in my own recording studio.
  • I have worked as a Piano Technician since 1999 and was the Head Technician at Liberty University, working on hundreds of concert instruments and war-torn practice room pianos.
  • I am a Registered Piano Technician with the Piano Technician's Guild and have served as my chapter's President and the Chair of the College And University Technician's Committee at the national level.
  • I have been trained at the Steinway Piano Factory in New York City in the areas of Action Regulation, Voicing, Dampers, and Finish Repair.

Today, my focus is servicing YOUR piano so that you can LOVE playing it - allowing you to increase your creativity and expression.

David Pritchard and Resonant Piano is a gift to our state and region. I was thrilled to discover that he and his family have relocated to the Flathead Valley! As the chair of the Keyboard Division at the University of Montana, we have a large fleet of pianos that are in constant use and in constant need of attention. In addition, we have four concert instruments that are used regularly, and they need an artist-caliber technician to bring them up to their best. While we have a good technician employed at the university, the instruments were in need of a deeper servicing. David is friendly, professional, kind and caring, and his work is impeccable.

The most amazing part of his visit was his work on one of the Steinways in my teaching studio, a 7’ model B, that has been an issue for many years—not holding tune, generally dead in tone quality, and not really a pleasure to play. David spent two hours with that instrument, and with all honestly I love playing that piano now! It stays in tune, the voicing work he did on it was excellent and really brought out colors in it that I had never heard before, and he regulated the action to provide more aftertouch which was a game-changer. I am so grateful for his willingness to come down to Missoula for two days and work on 8 of our grands. We will have him back a few times every year from now on!
